Phantom called the line of Actual Control
to make
to make
- to make meaningful progress on the boundary issue are four agreement-signed in Sept 1993, November 1996, April 2005, Octomber 2013 between two countries
Five treaties between the two nation that their disposal to address
- 1993 Agreement of peace and transquality along the LAC
- 1996 Agreement of confidence building measure in the military field along the LAC.
- 2005 Protocol on the modalities of confidence building measure in the military field along the LAC
- 2012 Agreement on the establishment of working mechanism for consultation and coordination of India-China border Affairs.
- 2013 border defence cooperation agreement.
- According to the 1993 (on the maintenance of transquality along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in India China border areas)," pending at ultimate solution,'' the two sides shall stricty respect and observed LAC between the two sides.....no activities of either sides shall overtake the step.
- Futher both the 1993 and and 1996 agreement (on confidence building measure in the miliatry field along the (LAC) say they will reduce or limit their respective military force within mutually agreed geographical zone along the LAC."
- Infact many of the article have no bearing on the ground reality. Article XII of the 1996 agreement for instance says " this agreement is subject to ratification and shall enters into force on the date of exchange of instrument of ratification, it is not clear if and then happened.
- Astonishingly, nowhere 1993 agreement is there the provision to recognise the existing lines of deployment of the respective armies as they were in1993.
- The agreement does not reflect any attempt to each side recognise the other line of deployment of troops at the time was signed.
- The ambiguity over the LAC has prolonged sense of unease and uncertainty and thus exponentially contribute to the military buidup in these areas.
- Now considered para 4 in Artical II of the 2013 agreement (on border defence corporation)
- It enjoins the parties to work with the other side in combination natural disasters or infectious diseases ( emphasis mine at may affect or spread to the outer side.
